AI Image Metadata Detector: Check Embedded Clues Locally
This AI image metadata detector scans JPG, PNG, and WebP files for embedded clues left by tools such as Midjourney, DALL-E, Stable Diffusion, Adobe Firefly, and C2PA content credentials. Drop in an image and receive a plain-language report without uploading the file. The result reports metadata evidence only; it does not judge pixels or claim to prove who made an image.
How to use it
- 1
Choose the image
Drop a JPG, PNG, or WebP file into the scanner. The browser reads its bytes locally, up to the clearly stated size limit.
- 2
Review matched clues
The report lists recognized generator names, parameter blocks, or C2PA markers and separately notes supported metadata containers.
- 3
Interpret the result carefully
Treat detected tags as useful evidence and a clean result as no match, not proof. Metadata can be removed, changed, or added by later software.
Why use this privately?
Images used for reporting, moderation, research, client review, or classroom work may be confidential. Sending them to an online detector can expose the picture itself simply to inspect a few embedded strings. This scanner works on the file bytes in your browser and does not transfer the selected image for analysis. It checks common EXIF, XMP, IPTC, C2PA/JUMBF, generator-name, and generation-parameter markers. That narrow method is transparent and useful, but it has limits. Many platforms strip metadata during upload, screenshots often contain none, and editing software can replace or remove original fields. Metadata can also be forged. For those reasons, “No AI Metadata Found” means the supported markers were not present; it does not mean the image was made by a camera or person. Important authenticity decisions should combine provenance, source history, reverse search, visual review, and qualified analysis.
Who is this for?
The detector is useful for journalists, educators, moderators, developers, designers, and curious users who want a private first look at embedded provenance clues before deciding whether deeper review is needed.
