Using Unit Converter
I keep a converter open in a tab more days than not — miles to kilometers before a trip, grams to ounces mid-recipe, Celsius to Fahrenheit when a forecast means nothing to me. I built this one to convert live as I type, with the units I actually reach for, and nothing phoning home.
How to use it
- 1
Pick a category
Choose Length, Weight, or Temperature at the top. Each tab shows only the units that make sense for it, from millimeters to miles and Celsius to Kelvin.
- 2
Enter a value and units
Type your number, then pick the From unit and the To unit. The result updates with every keystroke, so you can nudge the input and watch the answer follow.
- 3
Swap or copy
Hit the swap button to flip the direction instantly, or copy the result with one click for your recipe, listing, or homework.
Why use this privately?
Most converter sites are free because your queries are the product. What you convert is surprisingly revealing — recipe units hint at dinner plans, repeated distance conversions sketch your travel, and nobody reads a privacy policy before converting inches to centimeters. Many of these pages load a small army of trackers before you type a single digit. This converter does the arithmetic in your browser tab with plain conversion factors and the standard temperature formulas. There is no account, no history, and nothing to leak, which is exactly how a simple utility should behave.
Who is this for?
Built for students, travelers, cooks, and anyone who regularly bounces between metric and imperial.
